Last night in group one of my clients shared that she was working on "creating her own chant" and becoming her own best friend & cheerleader.
What if you couldn’t distract yourself with your iPhone... iPad... Netflix... TV... or by calling a friend or even journaling? Whenever outside comfort or external distraction is not available (or fails), you still have yourself: Your kindness, your compassion, your loving heart.
You CAN become your best friend and give yourself what you need in a moment of suffering or experiencing emotional discomfort.
Allow space for tapping into your inner wisdom and channel the wise part of yourself. Practice talking to yourself as if you were comforting a close friend or a loved one. That is the “heart” of self-compassion. It works... I know.
